Language Lab - presentation & research issues

The "Language Lab" (Responsible: Dr. Andrea Marini) is a section of the Cognitive Neuroscience Lab hosted in the Department of Human Sciences of the University of Udine. The Lab is dislocated in different buildings. We have equipment for neuroimaging (3TfMRI, MRI, DTI) and electophysiological studies (EEG, TMS) hosted in two university hospitals in Udine ("Santa Maria della Misericordia" and "Gervasutta"). Additional spaces for the linguistic assessment and rehabilitation of adult patients and children with developmental disabilities are hosted in the Research Center “E. Medea” in Udine and in the Research Center “Santa Lucia” in Rome.

The language lab focuses on:

1 Development of new tools for linguistic assessment (e.g., “Batteria per la Valutazione del linguaggio in bambini dai 4 ai 12 anni: BVL_4-12”, Marini et al., in press)

2 Neural correlates of language and human communication

3 Neuropsychology of language (adults and children)

4 Phylogenetic evolution and ontogenetic development of language
